Government College of Education at Komarapalayam is an NAAC Accredited instituton wth 'B' Grade. The college was founded during the year 1955-56 and housed in the Government High School, Komarapalayam. The college started functioning in the present buildings situated on a ground area about 19 acres from 05.03.1972 onwards.
The college is fully institutionalised by Government and is a Co-Education institution imparting training on Education and mentoring students to be the teachers for the future India.
In 1986-87 a permanent Hostel building for men and Women students during the year 1993-94, were opened. The sanctioned strength for B.Ed is 100. The college is now affiliated to the periyar University Salem from 1998-99. The M.Ed course was not functioning from the academic year 2000-2001 onwards due to separate department of Education insisted by the N.C.T.E. |
